Approximately $28.4 million has been spent
through June 2010 on homelessness prevention for 57,220 people at risk of
homelessness and $12.5 million has been spent to rapidly re-house 35,135 people
experiencing homelessness.
The nation’s homeless population increased by
approximately 20,000 people from 2008 to 2009 (3 percent increase).
Homeless veterans can be found in every state and live in rural, suburban and urban communities. In 2010, it is estimated that 76,329 veterans were homeless on a given night.
